30 seconds for pantos to lower ensure line voltage tile extinguishes step light and spot light will remain illuminated for 5 minutes
39
‘brakes on’ train status tile illuminated while moving indicates:
a brake has failed to release
40
isolating a bogie
RTA Full cab unattended locate affected unit remove brake module cover turn the cock to the isolate position replace cover report TMM to TC and cancel RTA Operate in accordance with bogie isolated procedure
41
if there’s a fault with the bogie:
fault panel tile once isolated train status tile will illuminate
42
Park Brake Defects:
attempt to release using the rotary switch observe cab train man MCB is set attempt to power against them- if it can be moved retrain and shunt ( but the safety loop will open if you exceed 5km/h with the park brakes on) otherwise RTA look for air leak submit TMM
43
how can you tell if the park brakes have failed to release?
the tile is illuminated retardation smoke/smell
44
how to manually release a park brake (mindful the park brake will automatically reset after the next application eg. key out)
locate isolate bogie locate and unlock pin pull manual release device until tension relieved replace and lock pin turn the bogie IC back replace brake module cover TMM
45
main res pressure at or above 600 (but below 850)
flashing uncouple button report TMM operate as normal monitor duplex gauge
46
main res below 600
emergency brakes will apply air suspension on both bogies must be isolated max 80km/h
47
defective spring
remove from service deflate both air bags on level service and look for a lean
48
defective dampener
report and book
49
if main res is a steady 700kpa
maybe the towing cock has been turned in that cab to the rescue position
50
main res defects cars 3&4
RTA identify leak attempt to blank the equipment, if unsuccessful: RTA full cab unattended close end cockcs manual release park brakes with the manual release devices isolate safety loop bypass drive in accordance with equipment isolated detrain and remove from service
51
main res defect any car except 3&4
RTA attempt to blank the equipment if it works confirm loss of equipment and TMM if not isolate end cocks at both ends of the car, declare disabled, train must be sandwiched, if electrically coupled with a siemens the safety loop must be bypassed in the lead once coupled: isolate bogie 1 and manually release SPB repeat on bogie 2
52
spring park brake on trailer cars?
yes
53
main res pressure drops below 600 and compressor fault light tile illuminated
call TC request permission for train stable try train stable for fault rectification if fault remains: RTA head to air compressor ( T car 1 end A side) turn the pressure switch to isolate if the compressor fails to start and main res stays below 600 declare disabled
54
when might a driver turn sanders IC
major damage has occurred to sanding equipment major air leak from sanding equipment that results in low main res pressure and affects safe operation of the train
55
do you need to isolate an inoperative sander
no
56
how does the whistle work
a solenoid valve releases air to the whistle components so it needs and electrical circuit to operate pneumatic components
57
whistle sounds continuously
depress and release several times trip and reset DCDC inverter wiper on affected car
58
whistle not sounding
depress and release the lever several times inspect the whistle isolating cock inspect windscreen wiper horn inspect dc dc inverter front lights wiper TMM
59

80-100% 2 bogies on a 6 car : 10km less until 60km2h 50-80% 6-9 bogies on a 6 car : extreme caution less than 50% disabled
60
FDCL between stations
PA view mirrors reduce speed TEC stop at next station regardless of timetable
61
pre movement /revenue
18 mins revenue is when it’s already been prepped pre movement if it’s not fouling a running line /going outside station limits
62
there are usually station staff for an attach divide if there are none
it is Driver In Charge conditions
63
another cab active
investigate check cleaners key etc try and activate and deactivate if it won’t trip out cab train manned
64
serious and serious priority needs to be fixed by the next day
end run is end of that journey and return is end of that peak
65
if it’s not possible to move the train inspect
friction brake monitoring in motor static inverter monitoring in trailer car
66
master controller handle failure / the oh fuck procedure
move it to emergency press ESB park brake on master key too off
67
