Stress
Is the mental or emotional response of the body to any demand made on it
Eustress or Distress
State anxiety
Is temporary ever changing emotional response to any threating situation
Amotivation
A absence of motivation usually caused by negative self perception or not wanting to do the activity
Intrinsic motivation
Is participating in a activity without any external reward.
Key elements - accomplishment, stimulation, knowledge
Extrinsic motivation
Is being in influence by an external factor.
Could be tangible ( physical) or intangible (non-physical)
Distress
The negative stress which is extreme anxiety nervousness or worry. And is cause when your perceived inability ( lack of skill) cannot meet the demand of the situation
Eustress
The good stress which gives fullifillment and satisfaction
4 stages of stress
- The demand of the situation
- How it is perceived (threat) (challenge)
- Increase levels of arousal ( Eustress or distress)
4.outcomes of the situation
( positive performance or negative performance)
Motivation
Is being determined by internal or external factors, which arouse and direct behaviour
Arousal
Is increased alertness and anticipation which prepares the body for action.
Physical activation (sweaty palms, heart racing)
Physiological activation ( increased attention)
Anxiety
Is a negative emotional state associated with extreme worry , nervousness or apprehension
Trait anxiety
Is when anxiety is part of your personality and your pattern of behaviour. You will have anxiety in many situations even non threatening ones
Cognitive anxiety
Is negative thoughts in our head also know as the chatter inside are head in a certain situation
Somatic anxiety
Is feeling anxiety in our physical body and this could be things like butterflies in our stomach or sweaty palms
Behavioural
Is how our behaviour changes when we become nervous
Perfectionism
Holding yourself to extremely high standards
Resilience
Is being able to deal with difficult situations
Functional perfectionism
Positive perfectionism where they strive to achieve their goals without it effecting their self esteem
Dysfunctional perfectionism
Is negative perfectionism where they set unachievable goals and when not achieved it will effect their self esteem and mental health
Aggression
Is verbal or physical behaviour which is intended to cause physical or emotional harm to someone
4 types: Assertive behaviour, instrumental aggression, hostile aggression, relational aggression
Relational aggression
Is non physical aggression which is intended to cause mental or emotional harm to an opponent.
E.G. insulting someone
Hostile aggression
Is physical aggressive behaviour which is intended to injury or harm the opponent
Instrumental aggression
Is displaying aggressive behaviour in pursuit of an non aggressive goal.
E.G. MMA or Boxing or rugby
Assertive behaviour
Is playing with your emotions but within the laws of the game.
So it’s goal oriented, without the intent of harming anyone and within the laws of the game
