A

All laws must pass both houses by a majority vote. Proposed laws are initiated in the lower house and then proceed to the upper house. The Governor General finally signs the law on behalf of the Crown (King of Australia – King Charles III). The role of the Governor General is to ensure the laws passed comply with the Federal Constitution.

In Victoria

A

There is a lower house (Legislative Assembly) and an upper house (Legislative Council). All laws must pass both houses by majority vote. The State Governor of Victoria signs the law on behalf of the Crown (King of Victoria – King Charles III). The role of the State Governor is to ensure the laws passed comply with the Victorian Constitution.
