A
- worsens disparities as a large NO° of ppl living in slums, Iack access to healthcare, education, clean water + sanitation, + may only have access to low-paying, informal jobs

How does ethnicity + employment affect internal disparities?
A
- some ethnic groups, often indigenous pops, have lower income lvls bc of discrimination, + so limits their eco, social + political opportunities
- e.g. although Indian + black ppl make up 1/3 of pop, they have v limited parliamentary representation
- legacies have also led to income disparities, generations after

- worsens disparities bc areas w higher lvls of education gain better-paid employment, + so have smaller families allowing them to save + invest more for future

- unequal land ownership leads to unequal wealth distribution, as landowners control resources + income, whilst landless ppl rely on low income, insecure jobs
