Q

What is a statistical bias?

A

Difference between estimators expected value and the true value

Can fail if for example the real world is biased for example percentage of rearrest - might be biased, while percentage of crimes might be less…

Q

What is group fairness

A

Do outcomes differ between groups?

It’s practically impossible to predict this without a trade off - if the data is biased.
For example the people going back to
Prison are effected by the rase but we won’t the model to be equal….
So or we will have a high false negative and realest people who will get back, or high positives in one group
Over the others
