Question Begging Epithet
Calls someone a name that implies a fact that is not proved
A large gentleman sits down to eat at a buffet and a lady whispers, “We’d better hurry before that hog eats everything left”
Special pleading
Colors the language according to the arguer’s perspective by citing that one is the exception
Officer, I know i was speeding, but please don’t give me a ticket - I really am a good driver
Equivocation
Changes the meaning of a word or phrase mid-discussion
I’d give you my reasons, but you won’t listen to reason, so I won’t botherpl
Complex question
Asks a question that assumes and so corners its respondent
When do you think you’ll stop cheating?
Appeal to emotions
Manipulates agreement by way of emotion instead of cogent reason
Ladies and gentlemen, would you be able to sleep at night knowing that a man accused of murder was living next to you and your children? We’ve got to put him away
