Lover/Partner
For a couple who is not married, the word amante can be translated as lover, but the term pareja, used very frequently, is more than simply partner or significant other. It more accurately refers to a couple. Use the words novio/a and prometido/a for boyfriend/girlfriend and fiancé/fiancée respectively.
