define family diversity
the range of different types and forms of families in society.
describe organisational diversity
refers to the total makeup of the employee workforce and the amount of diversity involved. this is due to different patterns of work outside and inside the home and changing marital trends.

the existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups, within a society. this accounts for much family diversity from the indigenous population to migrant houses.

this is demonstrated in the material resources of families, the relationship between couples and between parents and their children, and the socialisation and education of children.

refers to the distance that occurs when a family has a baby, when the children reach their teens and when they leave home.

the uk government provides benefits to lone parent families. previously, women would stay with their husbands as they had no means of supporting themselves without their husbands.

lots more opportunities of employment for women today. many women choose not to marry at a young age and focus on their careers instead.
describe longer life expectancy
couples that marry today are likely to spend a considerable amount of their life with the one person. but there is still many years left to form a new relationship if a couple divorce.
describe decline in religion
william goode argued that secularisation has resulted in marriage becoming less of a sacred, spiritual union and more of a personal and practical commitment.
describe immigration
immigration of people from other parts of the world had lead to an increase in different family types.
