- basic features of modelled nuclear family remain unchanged
- must not dismiss nuclear family as irelevent –> still the family most ppl aspire to be

A
- carried out study on families and found there had been a shift away from segregated conjugal roles towards a ‘symmetrical family’
- egalitarian marriage was more evident
- due to the ‘march of progress’ men are more willing to do their share
