Q

Explain how irradiating and contaminating the water affected the hazard caused by drinking the water.

A

Irradiating- Radiation enters the water, doesn’t affect the hazard.

Q

What are the details of the plum pudding model and the nuclear model of the atom?

A

The plum pudding model was replaced by the nuclear model due to Rutherfords gold foil experiment which demonstrated that atoms have a small dense nucleus contradicting the idea of a uniform distribution of charge in the plum pudding model.

Q

Explain how the motion of the particles in warmer air causes an increase in the power that is transferred to the turbine

A

-Motion of particles are warmer
-They gain kinetic energy
-More collisions
-Force of collisions are greater
-More energy is transferred

Q

Explain why efficient energy storage is important in reducing the amount of CO2 released when generating electricity

A

-allows storage of excess renewable energy for use when demand is high
-maintains grid stability
-reduces need for backup fossil fuel plants
-minimising wasted energy
