Q

Give an example of a problem you saw in a lesson and what you did to correct it.
Answer is subjective as it is not correct of incorrect.

A

Within the Period of Instruction, there are specific video’s that go with the lesson plan. Some of the videos took a little while to open. So, what I did was imbed the actual video within the lesson plan’s PowerPoint to keep from losing time as well as keeping the learners engaged with class.

Q

How do you think counseling affects student learning?

A

Counseling can positively affect student learning by addressing underlying emotional and social issues that may hinder academic performance, improving students’ self-esteem, coping mechanisms, and overall mental well-being, which can lead to better focus, engagement in class, and higher academic achievement; it also helps students develop important life skills like problem-solving, decision-making, and stress management, allowing them to navigate academic challenges more effectively.

Q

Describe a difficult counseling session you had with a Soldier and how you handled it.
Answer is subjective as it is not correct of incorrect.

A

I had a Soldier that didn’t what to accept the fact that they failed their EXSUM. So, I let the Learner give me their perspective on how they did the research and wrote their EXSUM. I stated that those are some good points however, the way that you wrote it can be seen as if you are writing a white paper. I pulled up an EXSUM example and thoroughly went over it with them from top to bottom, while providing some more insight as to how they should do their research and to let them know if they have any questions to contact their facilitator.

Q

Do you think allowing students to evaluate the course and instructor effectiveness is useful? Why or why not?

A

Yes, allowing students to evaluate their courses and instructors can be very useful, as it provides valuable feedback that can help teachers identify areas for improvement, adapt their teaching methods, and ultimately enhance the learning experience for future students; however, it’s important to use student evaluations cautiously and in conjunction with other assessment methods, as they can be subject to bias based on factors like student satisfaction rather than pure learning outcomes.
