Fetal Arrhythmias Flashcards
(28 cards)
Normal FHR
120-180 bmp
Any heart rate that is irregular or outside the normal range
Fetal arrhythmia
Most common fetal arrhythmia
PAC
Premature contraction of the atria followed by premature contraction of the ventricle
Conducted PAC
Premature contraction of the atria followed by absence of the ventricular contraction
Non-conducted PAC
Can progress to supraventricular tachycardia
PAC
Premature contraction of the ventricular that is not preceded by a premature contraction of the atria
PVC
Atrial rate of SVT
180-299 bpm
Heart rate of an atrial flutter
300-500 bpm
Ventricular conduction rate of a SVT
1:1
Fetal heart rate >180 bpm with a 1:1 ventricle conduction rate
SVT
This heart defect is associated with SVT
Einstein anomaly
If RP interval is shorter than PR interval
Consider “re-entrant” tachycardia,
Wolff-Parkinson white syndrome
If RP interval is longer then PR interval
Permanent junctional reciprocating tachycardia, more difficult to treat, higher mortality
Conduction rate with an atrial flutter
Variable, 2:1 or 3:1
Associated with Long QT syndrome
Ventricular tachycardia
Ventricular rate >180 bpm and exceeds normal atrial rate
Ventricular tachycardia
Atrial & ventricular rate > 180 bpm =
SVT
Only Ventricular rate > 180 bpm =
VT
Heart rate below 120 bpm
Bradycardia
Sustained bradycardia =
Heart block
Prolonged PR interval (>150 msec)
1sr degree heart block
Ventricular rate <120 bpm, 2:1 3:1 conduction rate
2nd degree heart block
Ventricular rate <120 bpm, complete dissociation of atrial/ventricular rates
3rd degree (complete) heart block
