What is the Fight or Flight response?
A
• Evolutionary survival mechanism in response to a threat
• Primes the body and mind for extreme action, fighting for our life, or escaping a threat
• The body returns to homeostasis after the threat has passed
• Not designed for the modern world- “maladaptive” in most situations (not adjusting adequately)

What is acute stress?
A
Common form of stress in response to immediate pressures, can be exciting in small amounts and give focus/energy
Exhausting if maintained

What is chronic stress?
A
Long term form of stress in response to prolonged emotional pressure
Often occurs in situations that the individual feels unable to control
