What does the PEA TMA do?

A

What is MERLO release for?

A

The Merlo Release (MERLO) exists primarily to facilitate 7TAC arc approaches to RWY 36 ILS/TACAN.
Due to its design the MERLO also facilitates visual approaches to RWY 36 within 7 TAC.

How do you know when Merlo release is not available?

A

When the Merlo release is not available instrument approaches to RWY 36 will be denied or delayed. The Pearce ATIS will include the phrase ‘Merlo Release not available’.

What is Gnangara release for?

A

The Gnangara Release (GNA) exists to facilitate aircraft positioning for a visual approach to RWY 36.

When will Gnangara release be released to PEA ATC?

A

GNA will be released to Pearce ATC when the MERLO is not available and RWY 36 is required for VFR recoveries to PEA.

What are the restrictions of operating in GNA?

A

Aircraft operating visually within GNA are not required to remain 1.5nm clear of the southern boundary, but must remain at least 500FT below overlying civil airspace (i.e. not above 1000FT).

What are the VMC criteria in Pearce/Gin CIRA and Pearce RAs?

A

Class D VMC in Pearce/Gin CIRA and Class C VMC in Pearce RAs
Class C (at or above 10k ft): 8km vis, 1500m lateral, 1000ft vertical
Class C (below 10k ft): 5km vis, 1500m lateral, 1000ft vertical
Class D: 5000m vis, 600m lateral, 500ft below cloud or 1000ft above cloud

What is the Peace-Specific segregation criteria?

A

2nm laterally and/or 500ft vertically between VFR/SVFR (when visibility is greater than VMC) flights and all other traffic. However, if an aircraft captains reports ‘traffic sighted’, a reduced segregation criteria of 500ft vertically and/or 600m (2000ft)
