FIHT Flashcards
(4 cards)
Missed Approach Criteria?
- Aircraft not maintained within tolerances after FAF
- Visual reference not established before MAPt or MDA
- A landing cannot be effected from a RWY approach, unless circling is possible
- During an approach below MSA the performance of a navaid becomes suspect / fails.
- Visual reference lost whilst circling
- RAIM fail after IAF
How do you conduct a missed approach from visual circling?
Conduct an initial climbing turn towards the landing runway and overhead the aerodrome, after which you establish the ACFT on the MAP track.
What are the criteria for calling ‘Visual’?
- Clear of cloud
- In sight if ground or water
- At least 5km vis along approach path
When can you descend below MDA?
- When you are within the circling area for your ACFT (4.2NM for CAT C)
- When your visibility is at that or better than the plate
- When you can maintain visual contact with the LDG environment
- When complying with the first 3 points, you can start a continuous descent from downwind, base or finals, not below the obstacle clearance height until aligned with the LDG RWY.
