Final Mon. 10/14 Flashcards
(19 cards)
3 factors that contribute to distortion
- object thickness
- object shape
- object position
To minimize size distortion & blur one must
- increase SID
* decrease OID
How does focal spot size & blur relate
•The larger the focal spot the more blur
The smaller the focal spot the better the
•special resolution
Quantity is related to
•mAs
Quality is related to
•kVp
Factors that influence quality
- kVp
* filtration
Low kVp =
- high contrast
- short gray scale
- narrow latitude
What will decrease patient dose high or low grid ratio
•low grid ration
Does a grid have an effect on magnification?
•yes because of the Increase of OID
Besides grid ratio what will also effect the clean up of scatter
•frequency
Factors that reduce detail
- SID
- OID
- Focal spot size
High speed vs low speed screens
- higher speed- decreases patient dose but increases blur
* low speed-increases patient dose but decreases blur, better detail
Does mAs have anything to do with detail?
•no cuz they have nothing to do with blur
Does processing have anything to do with density/contrast
•Yes can cause blur or grain/over or under developed
Compensating wedge filter the thickest part should be on ankle or toes
•the thickest part should be over the toes
What body habitus will require an increase in technique
•hypersthenic
Does focal spot have anything to do with contrast
•no
If distance is halved then mAs is
1/4 the original
