A

Through an exterior door

24
Q

25
RAT Truck Assignment
Officer face to face w/ IC FAO and FFs bring equip forward Officer 360: note all poss means of egress and conditions/obstructions effecting quick egress; report findings to IC Remove all conditions/obstructions effecting quick egress *consider creation of flow paths *determine loc of Int stairs if fire above ground level Ground ladders placed to upper story windows and roof on all sides *areas closest to fire first Safety line to front of building Lights to illuminate all means of egress
26
2nd Arriving Ladder Assignments Team A: Officer and FF1
Search all floors above the fire for occupants and fire extension Assist the 1st ladder w/ primary search Equipped w/ TIC, Halligan, Striking Tool, hooks at a minimum
27
3rd Attack Line Placement/Assignments:
* As ordered by IC: - move past the initial attack line if its falls short - fire flr or flr above to protect search crews/prevent vertical extension - cover exposures - protect persons trapped at windows or fire escapes above the fire - move to another area of the building
28
FPODP
The mental process of size up -continuous Facts: What do you have? Probability: What are the potential threats; life hazards, extension Own Situation: What are your resources at hand Decision: Strategy (Offensive/Defensive) Plan of Operation: Tactics
29
Safety Engine Assignment
Stage apparatus out of the way Officer becomes Acct Officer, assisted by FAO; FFs join RAT Truck Manage acct board and SCBA monitoring system at ICP Determine location of all Co on scene Note all Benchmark transmissions Notify IC if no response from a Co after 2 attempts of contact for location or PAR
30
4 Levels of Victim Profile
Low Moderate High Confirmed
31
OSCHO Structure Type
``` Occupancy (dwelling, commercial, etc) Size (large, medium, small) Construction (frame, brick, metal) Height (assumed 1 story if not reported) Occ Status (occ, unocc, vac, undetermined) ``` Assessed during FPODP mental sizeup. Reported in the O of IOCAN arrival report
32
SIGNAL Victim Profile
Species: human or animal Incapacity: missing/trapped/disabled/KTFO Gender: male or female Number: # or potential # of victims Age: senior, adult, teen, child, infant Location: confirmed, last known, probable Assessed during mental SU: observed on 360 or witness/RP Reported during C of IOCAN arrival report: who/what is in danger
33
Moderate VP =
Moderate risk; Enter based on structural stability and fire involvement
34
Basement Fires: Hose Line Placement If no exterior stairs or exterior door to access the basement:
Knock down visible fire from an exterior window prior to attempting to enter from interior steps.
35
If a window is already broken from heat...
the room is like too hot for someone to survive in it
36
Basement Fires: Hose Line Placement If 1st line enters through exterior basement door or is operating through a basement window, 2nd line should be placed in service where?
Placed in service on the 1st flr, to protect the 1st flr and interior stairs from fire extension
37
2nd P of FPODP
Plan of Operation: Tactics to be employed ``` What tactics? Deployed where? By who? Using what? Objective? ``` Priorities: Rescue Fire control Property Conservation
38
P of FPODP
Probabilities: educated guess to the extent of the threat and what will likely occur if the threat isn’t mitigated immediately How long has fire burned? % involved? Structure? Safe to enter? Where will the fire go? Interior? Exterior? Who or what is in its path? Interior? Exterior? Survivability profile?
39
O of FPODP
Own Situation: current and responding resources ``` Who do I have? Who will I have? Water supply/hose lines/ladders/hand tools Safety precautions Specialty resources available Fire suppression systems available ```
40
Heavy Rescue Assignments
Report to IC for assignment If arrive before IC, perform search/rescue in areas not currently searched Inspection hole ASAP; determine construction Assist w/ attack lines if needed/ordered Determine structural stability for overhaul Assist w/ overhaul as directed by IC Assist placing companies back in service
41
Stage unit to not impede access Report to ICP in Full PPE w/ equip and cot Collect and deliver all 1st alarm company passports to acct Standby
42
Low VP + Heavy Involvement =
Low risk; Defensive strategy
43
Low victim profile
All victims reported out by reliable source Building is likely vacant or unused
44
N of IOCAN
Needs What do you need? Add’l alarms, manpower, resources *plan ahead; call for resources before needed Orders for next arriving companies: Assistance placing 1st line Backup line View rear of you couldn’t 360 Estimated fire flow (LxWxH)/100 call for add’l attack lines?
