What is circuit training?
A set of different exercises done in a loop. Good for overall fitness.
What is interval training?
Alternating between high-intensity work and rest. Improves speed and anaerobic fitness.
What is fartlek training?
‘Speed play’ – changing speeds during continuous exercise. Builds endurance and speed.
What is continuous training?
Exercise without rest for 20+ minutes. Improves aerobic endurance.
What is resistance training?
Using weights or bodyweight to build strength, power, or endurance.
What is plyometric training?
Explosive exercises like jumping to build muscular power.
What is flexibility training?
Stretching to improve range of motion and prevent injury.
What does FITT stand for?
Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type – used to structure a training plan.
How do you measure intensity?
Use RPE scale (1–10), talk test, or % of max heart rate.
What is progressive overload?
Gradually increase training to improve fitness. Only change 1 thing at a time.
What is specificity?
Training should match your fitness goal or sport.
What is reversibility?
Fitness is lost if you stop training.
What is variety?
Changing up training to keep it interesting and stay motivated.
What is individuality?
Everyone responds to training differently. Plans should match personal needs.
What is overtraining?
Too much exercise without enough rest. Can cause fatigue and injury.
