Q

STORED FLIGHT PLANS are what? What must they have?

A

Flight plan stored in the FMS database for future use.

Must have:

  • Departure Airport
  • Destination Airport

Can be retrieved:

  • Selecting list of stored flight plans (NAV - FLT PLN LIST)
  • Entering departure and destination airport on RTE page - FLT PLN list automatically displayed

Q

VERTICAL Flight Plan is what? Where is the vertical profile information displayed on? What is VTA (Vertical Track Alert) and when is it issued?

A

Vertical Profile calculated based on PERF INIT data and coded altitude constraints

Vertical Profile information displayed on:

  • PFD
  • MFD
  • MCDU, PROG - PROG 2/3 - VNAV Data

VTA

  • Issued 60 secs before FMS climb/descent
  • 1000ft before level off altitude

Q

FMS Databases are?

A
  • Navigation - 28 day update cycle, waypoints/procedures for flight planning, Aids tuning of NAVAIDS
  • Aircraft/Performance - Airplane-specific performance parameters
  • Custom - Pilot entered, waypoints and stored flight plans, NOT UPDATED on a scheduled basis

Q

FMS Navigation Database becomes effective when?

A

New database becomes effective at 0900Z on the date shown

  • Old database is therefore effective 9 hours beyond the last day of the cycle

Example - ends 14 Feb ITS VALID UNTIL 15 FEB AT 0900Z

Active - Starts 21st Dec at 0900Z
