Q

Describe the life cycle of the rumen fluke

A
  1. Fasciola infect snails and remain within them for 4 weeks
  2. Metacercaria are shed from snail and ingested by ruminants
  3. Juveniles excyst in the duodenum and attach to the intestinal wall where they remain and feed for 6 weeks
  4. Adults migrate to the forestomachs where they lay eggs that are then excreted in faeces
