Q

What effects energy needed by the body ?

A

Basal metabolic rate (BMR)
Basal metabolic rate (BMR) estimates the minimum number of calories a person needs to burn to sustain their basic life functions during a 24-hour period of rest. Examples of such functions include:

breathing
circulation
digestion and absorption of nutrients
cellular processes.

The physical activity level (PAL
A physical activity level (PAL) is a way of estimating physical activity in a person by looking at energy (calorie) usage over 24 hours in relation to the amount of energy needed to fuel the body at rest.

Energy balance
Energy balance is the relationship between energy input (calories consumed through food and drink) to energy output (calories used by the body for our energy requirements) being equal.

This relationship dictates whether weight is lost, gained, or remains the same.
