Convenience Foods
Convenience food, or tertiary processed food, is food that is commercially prepared to optimise ease of consumption.
Papillae
A small rounded protuberance on a part or organ of the body.
Medical Diet
A therapeutic diet is a meal plan that controls the intake of certain foods or nutrients.
Food Intolerance
A food intolerance, or a food sensitivity occurs when a person has difficulty digesting a particular food.
“Fad” Foods
A fad diet is a diet that is popular for a time, similar to fads in fashion, without being a standard dietary recommendation, and often promising unreasonably fast weight loss or nonsensical health improvements.
Media
The main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the internet) regarded collectively.
Taste buds
Any of the clusters of bulbous nerve endings on the tongue and in the lining of the mouth which provide the sense of taste.
Diabetes
A disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood and urine.
Food Allergy
An unpleasant or dangerous immune system reaction after a certain food is eaten.
Ethnic Group
A group of people who share a similar culture (beliefs, values, and behaviors), language, religion, ancestry, or other characteristic that is often handed down from one generation to the next.
Five Senses
The senses or faculties of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, by which humans and animals perceive stimuli originating from outside or inside the body.
Appetite
A natural desire to satisfy a bodily need, especially for food.
Modified Diet
A modified diet is any diet altered to include or exclude certain components, such as calories, fat, vitamins and minerals.
Organic Food
Organic food is food produced by methods complying with the standards of organic farming.
