  • Main: bacterial, viruses, parasites/chemicals,
  • Poor food handling/cross contamination
  • Common pathogens: campylobacter, salmonella, rotavirus, norovirus

A
  • Inflammatory and stomach lining damaging toxins produced
  • Negative effects on digestive system = food poisoning symptoms

Risk Factors

A
  • Poor food handling/storage
  • Contaminated water sources
  • Eat undercook/raw foods
  • Poor immune system (kids/old people)

Management

  • Hydration, good diet
  • Relive symptoms.
  • Meds: loperamide
  • IV fluids: patient unwell severely
