Food Chain
A food chain shows movement of energy from one trophic level to another in an ecosystem eg Grass-> Cow -> Dingo
Food web
Food webs show the movement of energy and the many interactions that are within an ecosystem.
Herbivore
Only eats plants
Omnivore
Eats plants and meat
Carnivore
Only eats meat
Producer
An organism that can produce/create their own energy (Plants)
Consumer
Needs to eat something else to gain energy such as a producer or another consumer
Trophic Level
The level an organism is found on a food web/chain is called Trophic Levels. There can be up to 5 trophic levels.
Decomposer
responsible for breaking down dead decaying organisms to return nutrients to the ecosystem.
Primary Consumer
Anything that eats a producer
Secondary Consumer
Anything that eats a primary consumer
Tertiary consumer
Anything that eats a secondary consumer
Quaternary consumer
Anything that eats a tertiary consumer
