Test for sugars
A
Benedict’s Solution added, heated in a water bath. Goes green > orange/red, depending on how much glucose.

What hazards are involved?
A
iodine solution goes blue-black
Iodine solution is an irritant (use gloves and goggles)

Test for proteins
A
- Add 1cm^3 of biuret solution A to the food solution in a test tube.
- mix the liquids
- Add 1cm^3 of biuret solution B
- shake
- if protein is present, the colour will be purple
* wear goggles

A
- Add equal amouts of food and water to test choob
- Add Sudan III
- Shake
- See red-stained layer on surface of water
- profit.
