Foot Flashcards
(23 cards)
Plantar Faciitis Tx
POLICE, biomechanics (footwear), foot strengthening, night splint, tape jobs, gastroc/soleus stretching if reason
Name the ROM tests for foot
PF, DF, inv, ev, Toe flextion, Toe extension
What muscles contribute to DF
mainly: tibialis anterior
also: EDL, EHL
What muscles involved in PF
Gasctroc and soleus
What muscles involved in inversion
tibialis posterior and anterior
What ROM for foot
PF, DR, Inv, Ev, toe flextion, Toe extension
What muscles involved in eversion
peroneus longus and brevis
What muscles involved in flection of 1st toe
FHL, FHB
Muscles involved in flexion of toes 2-5
FDL, FDB
Muscles involved in extention of toe 1
EHL, EHB
Muscles involved in toe 2-5 extension
EDL, EDB
Foot special tests
Gastroc/soleus length test
FHL length test
Twist test
What is the twist test
In squat position, twist to right and twist to left
expect to see supination and pronation
Where do you palpate- foot
Generally around calcaneus, and medial calcaneal tubrercle
Which foot injuries are chronic gradual onset
plantar faciitis, fat pad syndrome
What is Tx of Fat pad syndrome
Rest, fat pad tape job, heel cup, supportive shoes, adress biomechanics
how do we know if a patient has plantar fasciitis
Chronic gradual onset, pes planus or valgus, loss of arch control, tightness in gasctroc, soleus, FHL
How do we know if a patient has Fat Pad syndrome
pain in general calcaneus, pain with weight bearing DF
What are the foot injuries?
-plantar faciitis
-fat pad syndrome
What is Observation for foot injuries
Look for obvious deformity
redness, swelling
Medial arch?-planus, cavus, neutral?
Arch fall when walk?
Squat and twist test
Gait
Wear pattern on shoes
where to palpate for foot
Calcaneus
medial calcaneal tubrcle
differences between plantar faciitis and fat pad syndrome
pain center of heel- fat pad
Pain in the medial calcaneal area and through foot- Plantar faciitis
