Force Flashcards
(26 cards)
What is friction
The energy which is the resistance of two solid object sliding/rubbing on each other
What is gravitational energy
- the energy stored in an object due to its height above the Earth
What is Chemical energy
The energy exists inside the bond of molecule
e.g food molecule, fuel
What is electrostatic energy
-energy stored due to electric charges
What is Magnetic energy
The energy of attraction of opposite pole
What is Thermal energy
-the energy produced when a rise in temp. causes molecules to collide with each other
What is nuclear energy
-transfer of energy stored within its nucleus
What is kinetic energy
The energy at which a object is possesses due to its motion
What is the unit of energy
Joules
What is mechanical energy transfer
The transfer of energy through a movement and forces
What is heating energy transfer
The transfer of energy through conduction or convection
What is radiation energy transfer
The transfer of energy through waves
What is electricity energy transfer
The transfer of energy through the movement of charges
What is newton’s first law
An object will stay at rest or in constant motion unless an unbalanced force act on it
What is newton’s second law
Force = mass x acceleration
What is newton’s third law
Every action force had a equal reaction force in the opposite direction
What does a free body diagram show
All the force acting on a object
What is the opposite force for weight
normal
What is the acceleration with a resultant force of 175 N forwards acting on the total mass of 75 kg?
force/mass=
175/75=
acceleration is 2.33 m/s^2
What affect Air resistance
Surface area and velocity
What is the acceleration of a skydiver who just jumped out of a plane
10m/s^2 (/9.8 m/s^2)
What happen to velocity as a skydiver jump out a plane until the parachute open
It will increase but accelerate at a slower rate
What is terminal velocity
The velocity is constant when there is equal force and resultant force is 0
What happen to velocity when a skydiver open his parachute
-decrease and air resistance will increase
