Forces Flashcards
(22 cards)
Push
Thrust the object foward
Pull
Drags the object back slowing it down also can be air resistance or friction
Gravity and reaction force
Gravity pulls you down but not all the way as reaction and gravity are equal push.
Contact force
Force that has contact with an object
Non-contact force
A force that doesn’t make contact
Newtons
The newtons will be what they measure the force in
Newton meter
The scale you use to measure
Deform
When you turn it into a different shape than it was before
Compress
When you apply a force the particles compress
Reaction force
When there is a balance between the forces
Extension
When two objects are separated even further
Elastic limit
The point where you cant stretch it any further
Hooke’s law
Hooke’s law is when the force is added by twenty every time
Balanced force
When two forces are equally balanced
Unbalanced force
When one force has a lower or higher force than the other
Weight
Weight: mass x gravity
Friction
When two surfaces rub slowing down the object
Air resistance/drag
When the air is hitting a moving object it slows down
Gravity
Is the force that stops you from floating away
Thrust
When a object is moved forward by something
Upthrust
When a object is thrusted upwards
Resultant force
A resultant force isis the calculation of the forces in adirection
