Emergent endoscopy
(Within 2 hours)
1-Complete esophageal obstruction (patient cannot handle secretions; drooling)
2-Button battery in esophagus – rapid tissue damage can begin within 2 hours
3-Sharp or pointed objects in esophagus – risk of perforation
Urgent Endoscopy (Within 6 hours)
1-Esophageal foreign bodies (without complete obstruction)
2-Blunt objects in the esophagus (e.g., coins, small toys)
3-Large or long objects (>5 cm in adults; >6 cm in children) in the stomach
4-Magnets (single) or other high-risk objects in the stomach or proximal small bowel
Non-Urgent Endoscopy (Elective or within a few days)
1-Small blunt objects in the stomach or intestines in asymptomatic.
2-disc and clyndrical battery in stomach without git complications
