What is criminal psycholgy?

A

the study of thoughts, emotions and intentions that contribute to criminal behaviour. it attempts to explain what leads someone to commit a crime (usually done before perp identification).

A

psychopath: lack of guilt, remorse, empathy. doesn’t care.
sociopath: lack of remorse but guilt and empathy could be present. doesn’t understand.

A

believes that mental health can be attributed to early childhood. a child innately forms attatchment to one main caregiver. this person should provide continuous for two years. without this, consequences including aggression, depression and psychopathy may occur

A

suggests that someone’s lack of control leads to crime. freud suggests that everyone has violet desires, but some are worse at controlling them.

A

preconventional: birth to mid childhood. behaviour is driven by avoiding punishment
conventional: early adulthood. developed sense of right and wrong, understanding role in society, appreciation of need for law and order
post conventional: mid adulthood. people move past law to moral. treating others as you would want to be treated
