FORM 1

A

Saville has used rounded shapes and curved lines along with the strong use of tone to give the illusion of form in the painting. This helps to describe the woman’s face after surgery with her swollen features such as her bulging lips and puffy cheeks.

FORM 2

A

Saville has paid close attention to shadows and highlights which makes the face look 3 dimensional, as though it has form. The dark tones under her cheek make the head look as though it has weight. The lighter tones on the top of her neck and cheek show the rounding of her face which is facing the light source from above her.

FORM 3

A

In ‘No woman No cry’, there is not a lot of form to the woman as there is a lack of tone in the painting. This is due to the painting being made up of a series of dots. This makes her look flat and unrealistic.
