Q

What is the shot type in opening scene and what does it show?

A

There is a wide angle shot Beyoncé on a car whilst it is drowning in the water. Effect it establishes the scene which is suffering from natural disaster being a flood. This represents Hurricane Katrina that affected New Orleans in 2005 where white victims were saved and black people left behind. This enforces the idea that black ethnic minorities are treated unfairly

Q

What more evidence is there to support this ideology ?

A

Long shot of a group black men dressed from different parts of history. One man dressed as a waiter in black tuxedo and other wearing a smart suit with a top hat. Effect of positioning these costumes creates a binary opposition to reflect the time where black people were oppressed and when they were free. Positioning if these men are in background showing lack of importance
