What is a formative assessment?
Formative assessment is is ongoing and aim to provide feedback that can improve teaching and learning in real time.
These are not graded and are often completed many times a month you get immediate feedback .
Example of formative assessment.
Class discussions
Exit tickets
Peer marking
Snapshot observation.
Why do practitioners perform formative assessments?
Gain deeper understanding of the students needs, can identify learning difficulties or delays, allows more collaborate and responsive classroom environment.

Weaknesses of formative assessments
Without follow-up formative assessments are a waste of time, they only capture the behaviour at the certain time, observe a key skill often requires long-term monitoring rather than a single observation.
