What are Airworthiness Directives (ADs)?
ADs are issues by the FAA in accordance with 14 CFR part 39 in response to deficiencies and/or unsafe conditions found in aircraft, engines, propellers, or other aircraft parts.
What information can be found in an AD?
- A description of the unsafe condition
- The product that the AD applies to.
- The required corrective action, operating limitations, or both.
- The AD effective date.
- A compliance time.
- Where to go for more information.
- Information on alternative methods of compliance (AMOC) with the requirements of the AD.
What is the minimum passing score on an FAA exam?
70%
How long do you have to notify the FAA of a change of address and how must you send the notification?

Why are federal regulations odd numbered?

What is an Advisory Circular (AC)?
Issued by the FAA, it is used to inform the aviation public of non-regulatory material.
What does the number of an AC correspond to?
The number of an AC corresponds to a specific section of the FAR.
What is a Type Certificate (TC)?
Official recognition that the design and operating limitations of a product meet the airworthiness standards.
What is a Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS)?
A TCDS is a formal description of a product. It lists the limitations and information required for type certification (airspeed limits, location and number of fuel tanks, control surface movements, etc).
What is a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)?
Issued by the FAA, a STC is formal approval of a modification to a product. It defines the product design change, states how it affects the existing type design, and lists affected aircraft by serial number.
What is the best source of information for the operation of and maintenance on a particular product?
The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
