Natural Rights
Basic rights that consist of life,liberty and property but was changed to happiness
Popular Sovereignty
government is based on the consent of the people
Republicanism
One in which the authority comes from the people
Separation of powers
when they made 3 branches executive, legislative and judical
Checks and balances
the different ways each branch can check each other so not one has more power
Federalism
letting both state and goverment have power
Social contract
when a group of people agree to give up certain rights and accept a central authority in order to protect their other rights
Bicameral legislator
the house and the senate having a bi meaning two legislators

that the federal law over rules state law
Full faith and credit clause
that state courts respect the laws and judgments of courts from other states.

between the 13 states of america that was framed as their first government after they got their independence from England it was terrible.

the representative of your state depending on how big the population is

represent each state as an equal no matter the population

a body of voters in a specified area who elect a representative to a legislative body.
Congressional committees
are committees that are focused on particular subjects for the senate and house of representatives

reviewing the communities decisions,law making in congress and activities to make sure everything is going as it should

when someone in the senate talks for hours on end to stop from a bill or problem being discussed about
cloture
is the vote to end a filibuster in the senate which is 60
