PROPER NOUN
Specific names of people, places etc and are always capitalised
COMMON NOUN
Refer to general places, people, things etc
ABSTRACT NOUN
General ideas or qualities which don’t have physical existence
EG = speed, kindness
CONCRETE NOUN
Refer to things which can be plotted, measured & often touchable
EG = dog, book, windmill
COLLECTIVE NOUNS
Special name for a group of something
EG = pack of dogs
ADJECTIVES
Describe nouns
ATTRIBUTIVE ADJECTIVES
Adjectives that come before the noun
EG = beautiful Sarah
PREDICATIVE ADJECTIVES
Adjectives that come after the noun
EG = the storm was terrible
COMPARITIVE ADJECTIVES
Help us make comparisons because they help us see the level or “grade” of noun
SUPERLATIVES
“More” or “most” basically the comparison
GRADABLE ADJECTIVES
Can be used in superlatives and comparitives
NON GRADABLE ADJECTIVES
Refer to an absolute quality
