Creature quotes for Delacy scenes

Pissoff buggeroff
-Holding gituar and waving it about, first line he has managed to vocalise after entering Delacys house.
-Mimicked from people before him
-The ‘s’ are elongated to imply struggle

-Sat outside on the bench infront of the house
-Creature is learning by repeating what Delacy says to him, attempting to learn basic phonics.
-Time has passed, creatures clothes have changed and position of characters has changed.
-The syllable ‘p’ is emphasized as he is trying to learn and understand the phonics

-after creature thrusts gituar into Delacys direction, this is after Delacy attempts to distinguish the intruder and reveals that he is blind.
-Automatic kindness and open mindset to welcome people even though he doesn’t know who is in his home
-rising pitch on the end to imply a question and calming tone to display Delacys genuine chatacter.

-revealed to audience just as the creature enters delacys home
-emphasis on “blind” to relay message across
-immediately reveals his vulnerabilities and implies Delacys automatic trust he gives to the creature even though he doesn’t know him.

-Sitting outside on the bench teaching the creature
-elongated syllables on “accomplish” to imply his sincerity for the creature to understand it.
-highlights the faith he has in the creatures abilities and emanates a form of paternal encouragement and pride towards the creature, the first form of love the creature has received since birth.
-Can also have a daunting side as the question is left open for negativity and so alludes to the creatures future events.

- Says this when the creature is questioning his purpose in his life
-reassuring tone and nature
-irony as the creature eventually kills delacy and so this line strengthens the audience’s emotional attachment to their relationship which has grown stronger and more paternal.
-Delacy is portrayed as almost too good for the creature because this love and caring nature fuels the hatred that the creature has within him after he gets rejected by delacys son.

-weak= back to childlike mannerisms and tendencies. All children need a guide/parent.
-evokes empathy as audience are reminded of his human instincts etc etc. what it means to be human.

Continuing to cradle victor, attempting to wake/save him.
-voice is broken, whispered low pitch and syllables disconnected, pleading tone to convey the raw emotion.
-power reversal and paternal reversal, the creature is now the more powerful one, acting as the master and directing victor to wake up = role reversals = heightened realism = it helps the audience to understand the flawed relationship dynamic between the master and creator.
-plainly expressing his deep thoughts, what the creature truly ever wanted.
-bittersweet atmosphere is created through sympathy = this heightened feeling implies the similarity of all creatures and so the audience connects
- CREATURES HUMANITY IS EXPOSED
“What is death?”
-looking away from victor, expression reflective with realisation
-the dire situation has left him to question the reality he is in.
-developed to adopt the ability to think about his existence and why he can’t understand it.
-the creature becomes vulnerable and fearful, something not yet seen from him, emotionally exposing himself for victor, displaying the secret bond he longs to have with him
-he does have the ability to love and feel

-face craned up to creature to imply the intentions of his words
-weak tone, varied inflection throughout piece to imply his frail nature.
-turning point in the play as it finally reveals his dependency on his creation
-the creatures whole existence is defined by victor, revealing how victors entire life has now centered to his creation, human emotion of living for eachother.
-relationship is paternally complex and there is a big remorseful depth to it.

-gained more energy now, head is held with more security yet victor is still on the ground and still weak
-emphasis on “must” and “destroyed” to eminate the desperation of the situation.
-set and steady tone
-anthesis, he doesn’t really want to destroy the creature as it is his own creation.
-Huberis of his creation although it is physically and mentally destroying him.
-underlying arrogance and pride in his creation becomes his greatest flaw and setback
-role reversal
-bittersweet relationship, overpowered by the greed eachother has to see the other suffer, until the realisation that they both need eachother desperately.

-projected towards elizabeth, high pitch and pause before her name; emphasis on “truly” to convey the creature really means his apology.
-calm and respectable tone
-creature has created a bigger gap between them he turns away and avoids eye contact with her, implying his hidden guilt.
-gentleman towards her, as he is aware of Elizabeths social hierarchy and how a lady should be treated = picked up social abilities and can act sophisticated.
-His calming nature saying this line deepens the personal bond with the audience as they have witnessed his entire development in the first person perspective, and so can feel proud of the abilities he has learned = directors intention
-Puts audience in position to feel as if the creature had no choice to do what he is about to do next.

- closing proximity between him and elizabeth, looking outward.
- syllables drawn out on “precious” and stuttered which draws empathy from Elizabeth a potential manipulation tactic he has used to draw her emotionally closer to his experiences, =he understands manipulation
-a natural and conversational tone
-“even mine” implies even he views himself as something separated from humanity, much like a monster of sorts. = alluding to directors intentions that there is all a monster within us.
“I am good at the art of essimation”
-turns to face Elizabeth, head high snd posture back.
-elongates the “ess” something he still struggles to pronounce and so this breaks his authoritative persona to elizabeth, reminding audience he is still a child.
-emphasising the final word to provoke an ominous atmosphere and uncertain mood = heightened realism
-has the ability to lie and decieve.
