how do new leaders get chosen
prescribed = externally from group
emerged = internally from group
autocratic vs democratic leader
makes all decisions, good for begginers and big groups.
shares decision making, good for experienced small groups
describe chelladurais leadership model
on left you have antecedents:
situational characteristics (time, complexity)
leader characteristics (intro or extro)
group characteristics (age, size, gender, experience).
on right you have type of behaviour:
required (auto or demo)
actual
preferred (beginners or experienced)
arrows you should know
then actual behaviour joins with group satisfaction and performance
incongruence can occur if actual is not matched with either required or preferred. Congruence is when they match.
