Last year I spent two months in Nice in France.
L’année dernière, j’ai passé deux mois à Nice en France.
I am going with my friends because I participated in a school exchange with them.
Je suis allée avec mes amis parce que j’ai participé à un échange scolaire avec eux.
There were thirty pupils and four teachers in our group
Il y avait trente élèves et quatre professeurs dans notre groupe.
I stayed with my french penpal, Thomas, in city centre
J’ai logé chez mes correspondant français, Thomas, au centre-ville.
The house was big and modern, and I had my own room - what luck !
La maison était grande et moderne, et j’avais ma propre chambre - quelle chance !
I got along well with everyone because the family and friends of my friend were all very nice.
Je m’entends bien avec tout le monde parce que la famille et les copains de mon correspondant étaient tous très gentils.
But I found it difficult to speak French and understand what they were saying
Mais je trouvais difficile de parler français et de comprendre ce qu’on me disait.
I am going to stay in contact with my new friends and we are going to send emails and texts in the future.
Je vais rester en contact avec mes nouveaux amis et on va envoyer des e-mails et des textos à l’avenir.
During the summer holidays, when my french friend, Enzo (who I worked with), stays with me I have a lot of plans.
Pendant les grandes vacances, quand mon copain français, Enzo (avec qui j’ai travaillé), vient chez moi j’ai beaucoup des projets.
We are going to visit Glasgow to go to a music festival.
On va visiter Glasgow pour aller à un festival de musique.
I hope it will be nice and we can do camping and cycling.
J’espère qu’il fera beau et on pourra faire du camping et du vélo
The school was a modern building with four floors and you can find it in the city centre
Le lycée était un bâtiment modern à quatre étages et se trouvait dans le centre de la ville
What I like about the french school was..
Ce que j’aimais du lycée en France c’était
that the students don’t need to wear uniform like in Scotland
que les élèves ne portaient pas d’uniforme comme en Écosse
that on Wednesday we finish a half hour early to do sports activities
que le mercredi on finissait à midi pour faire des activités sportives
But what I don’t like about the french school is…
Mais ce que je n’aimais pas du lycée en France c’était…
that everyday we have a lot of homework to do after lessons
que tous les jours on avait beaucoup de devoirs à faire appris les cours
even though the school day is longer than in Scotland.
même si la journée scolaire était plus longue qu’en Écosse.
One day we took a trip to Lille, a very pretty city in the north of France.
Un jour on a fait un voyage à Lille, une très belle ville dans le nord de la France.
I shopped and bought presents for my family in Scotland.
J’ai fait les magasins et j’ai acheté des cadeaux pour ma famille en Écosse.
Every day we went on a little excursion, for example, the first day we went to see the historical monuments.
On faisait tous les jours une petite excursion, par exemple, le premier jour, on est allé voir les monuments historiques.
We had to wake early and sleep early - the daily routine was tiring!
On se levait tôt et se couchait tôt - la routine journalière était fatigante!
I would recommend this experience to other people my age
Je recommanderais l’expérience à d’autres jeunes de mon âge
I’ve really improved my french
J’ai beaucoup amélioré mon français
