What are the basic numbers in French?
zéro, un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix
zero to ten
What are the numbers from 11 to 20 in French?
onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize, dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf, vingt
Pay attention to hyphenated forms
What are the tens from 20 to 100 in French?
vingt, trente, quarante, cinquante, soixante, soixante-dix, quatre-vingts, quatre-vingt-dix, cent
Note: soixante-dix = 60 + 10, etc.
How do you express hundreds and thousands in French?
cent (one hundred), deux cents (two hundred), mille (one thousand)
No s on ‘cent’ when followed by another number (e.g., ‘cent un’)
What are the ordinal numbers in French?
premier/première (first), deuxième (second), troisième (third), quatrième (fourth)…
‘Premier’ is used for dates (e.g., le premier janvier)
What are the days of the week in French?
lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche
Not capitalised in French
What are the months of the year in French?
janvier, février, mars, avril, mai, juin, juillet, août, septembre, octobre, novembre, décembre
Also not capitalised
How do you write dates in French?
le + number + month (e.g. le 5 mai = May 5th)
Use ‘le premier’ for the first of the month
How do you say your age in French?
J’ai douze ans. (‘I have twelve years.’)
Use ‘avoir’ not ‘être’
How are phone numbers formatted in French?
Given in pairs: 01 45 72 38 92 → zéro un, quarante-cinq, soixante-douze, etc.
Pronounce numbers in twos
How do you express years in French?
1999 → mille neuf cent quatre-vingt-dix-neuf
2025 → deux mille vingt-cinq
