Info
A
- When someone with schizophrenia attempts to regain touch with reality and some ego control, they begin to hallucinate because Freud said that it could be one way of substituting for a lost sense of reality
- Freud hypothesised that individuals with schizophrenia find themselves reduced to an infantile state, they behave similarly to that of new born infants; being dominated by their animal instincts and incapable of organising their own behaviour

- It’s deterministic – we have no free will over our behaviour
- It’s reductionist – doesn’t consider the influence of the environment nor our biology/genetics
