A

the zionists accepted the plan despite its limitations and the arabs blatantly refused it and promised to defy the resolution by force

A

the war of 48 was caused by resolution 181 furthering the tension between the Arabs and the Jews but only officially started in may 1948 when Israel declared independence.

A

TONS of Palestinians were left homeless and the israeli thought they should be integrated into the Arab states whereas the Arabs thought they should be allowed to return to their former homes.

A

the Israeli now occupy 78% of the territory. As for the Arabs …Jordan gains control of the west bank and Egypt gains the Gaza strip. Where Palestine is concerned they lose any hope of gaining independence since all their land has now been divided.

A

Egypt namely Nasser seized and decided to nationalize the suez canal, they now had the power to cut off any foreign access to the canal if they wanted

A

Throughout the years since the suez crisis tensions between Israel and its surrounding Arab countrie continued to rise, with a series of small counter strikes. Until finally Egypt in a show of support blocked Israel’s access to the straight of tiran which Israel had previously established would be considered an act of war

A

Even though the UN ordered a cease fire Israel is considered to have won and it is said to be because of their organization, superior military and the element of surprise

A

This war resulted in the west bank, golan heights, gaza strip, east jerusalem and the sinai peninsula all belonging to israel as well as a mass refugee crisis for all the Palestinians.
