somatisation disorder
multiple physical symptoms present for at least 2 years
patient refuses to accept reassurance or negative test results
somatisation = so-many symptoms for some-time (2+yrs)
illness anxiety disorder (hypochondirasis)
persistent belief in the present of an underlying serious disease - eg cancer
patient refuses to accept reassurance or negative test result
conversion disorder (functional neurological disorder)
typically involves loss of motor or sensory function
patient doesnt consciously feign the symptoms (factitious disorder) or seek material gain (malingering)
dissociative disorder
dissociation, “separating off” certain memories from normal consciousness
(in contrast to conversion disorder involves psychiatric sx - amnesia, fugue, stupor)
dissociative identity disorder = multiple personality dosrders
factitious disorder (munchausens)
intentional production of physical or psychological symptoms
malingering
fraudulent simulation or exaggeration of smptoms with intention of financial or other gain
