A

persistent belief in the present of an underlying serious disease - eg cancer

A

typically involves loss of motor or sensory function

patient doesnt consciously feign the symptoms (factitious disorder) or seek material gain (malingering)

A

dissociation, “separating off” certain memories from normal consciousness

(in contrast to conversion disorder involves psychiatric sx - amnesia, fugue, stupor)

dissociative identity disorder = multiple personality dosrders
