Q

What is the function of a root hair cell?

A

I absorb water and nutrients from the soil. The water and nutrients are then sent from the root hair cell, up through the roots, to the rest of the plant.

Q

What is the function of a phloem cell?

A

Phloem tissue transports dissolved food substances (sugars e.g. glucose) from the leaves to the rest of the plant for immediate use or storage (as cell sap in the vacuole). This movement is called Translocation.
