Freeze the product by lower temperatures below the freezing point

What is sublimation process?
A process when solid phase change to gas phase without passed through liquid phase
What is removed during sublimation?
Ice crystal from freezing, leaving behind dry product
What are the condition that freeze drying chamber maintan at water sublimate?
Under vacuum condition which are low pressure,low temperature
Why freeze drying chamber maintain under vacuum conditions?
To facilitate efficient and rapid sublimation of ice without melting
Why heat input is applied?
To frozen the material to provide the energy required for sublimation
Heat source can be
radiation or conduction and need need to carefully control to prevent melting
What happened during desorption?
Removal of water molecules from the frozen material as the transition directly from ice to vapor
Why we need to do desorption process?
To preserve structure and properties of the product
Why we need to protect the product?
To protect product from oxidation and maintain its stability
What are some formulation that include during product protection
Additives which is cryoprotectants or antioxidant
Why formulation of additive is included during product protection
To help maintain the integrity of the product during freeze drying process
