What is a challenge when installing rails in a steel frame house?
The installation of rails into steel ‘studs’ do not provide the sufficient SWL. Therefore, work can only be done if a stud can be “blocked” out from the other side of the wall (can’t be done if other side of wall are tiles such as a kitchen or outdoors)
What condition must be met to install into a steel frame?

Is a HHSH peg or slider more appropriate for majority of clients?
A peg as it is easier for people with fine motor difficulties and requires less strength

What are brick patterned tiles?
Why are they a problem?
Tiles that line up in alternate rows such as bricks. As there is no straight vertical line to cut down, any work that may require bricks to be cut out, will require re-waterproofing and thus cost more.
Does a peg need to be installed into a stud?
No it does not as it is not redesigned for weight bearing
How far can an underbracket extend past a stud?
250mm
What is recommended on OT reports as per Aaron?
Alternate options such as cheaper alternatives
What can be a possibility with assuring easier opening of an outswing door when recommending a landing?
A wider landing so that the client can step to the side when opening the door
Are vertical or horizontal grab rails easier to install in a shower recess?
Horizontal is easier to install into studs. Vertical grab rails may become non-functional for the client if the stud is too far from the recommended position.
Verticals may be able to be installed towards the edge of the shower
Where are there typically studs in the shower recess?
Corner of the shower, middle of the shower and just outside of the shower recess
Are there bariatric rails available?
No, not yet. The rails are available, however a proven fixture type has not been found.
Is there an option for the bottom of the handrail if there is not much clearance space for a lead in?
Yes, you can have the bottom of the rail curved towards itself, providing the client with initial contact prior to the first step
