Making predictions
Going to:
- When we have some evidence for a prediction.
Will:
- When we are confident about a prediction.
- We can add probably if we are slightly less certain.
Might:
- When we are less confident about a prediction.
Be about:
- When we are make a prediction that something will happen very soon.
Going to
- Quando tomamos uma decisão, mas não fizemos todos os preparativos necessariamente para que isso acontecesse (We’re going to the beach this weekend).
- Ou falar de algo que não está sobre nosso controle (she’s going to miss the train).
Present continuous in future forms
Podemos utilizar para falar sobre planos futuros, na qual já está tudo planejado, com providências já tomadas ou em andamento —> I’m flying tomorrow at 7:00 pm.
Will
- Usamos para falar sobre previsões, sobre um futuro que não foi planejado ou sem ter nada já em andamento —> Maybe I will buy a car this year.
- Pedidos, promessas, ameaças.
Future continuous
- Structure: will + be + ing.
- Use:
—> to describe an action in progress at or around a certain time in the future (I will be watching TV at 8:30 tonight).
—> to predict events we expect to be in progress at a certain time in the future (In ten years, we will be using computers in different ways).
Future perfect
- Structure: will + have + past participle.
- Use: to describe an action completed before a certain time in the future (I’ll have finished my college project by the end of the summer).
