In Spanish it’s very common for the present tense to be used to talk about future events that are certain.

Give examples

A

Te veo mañana en la esquela.
I’ll see you tomorrow in school.

Mis padres me visitan mañana.
My parents are going to visit me tomorrow.

          Example: viajar  - to travel

This tense is also used to describe predictions about the future. In conditional sentences with ‘if’ (si) to talk about what someone will do.

Verb after si is in present tense while verb elsewhere is in simple future.

Ex: Si tengo tiempo, saldré a correr en la tarde.

If I have time, I’ll go running this afternoon.

Informal future

ir + a + infinitive

Voy a cantar.
I am going to sing.

Va a ser famoso.
You are going to be famous.

Va a montar en enomopatín
He is going to skateboard.

Vamos a cenar a las nueve
We are going to eat dinner at 9.

Vais a jugar al fútbol esta tarde.
You are going to play soccer this afternoon.

Van a estudiar mucho.
They are going to study a lot.
