A

Carrying a pre-determined action during a specific part of a sporting event in order to win a bet.

E.g. a cricketer purposely bowling a no ball on the 2nd ball of the 5th over.

  • Negative impact on rep of sport
  • Sponsorship deals likely to be terminated if an entity (team,player etc) is involved in a scandal
  • NGBs can lose credibility if they fail to deal with it
