gastrointestinal hormones Flashcards
(14 cards)
what produces gastrin?
G cells in atrium of the stomach
what stimulates gastrin?
distention of the stomach,
vagus nerves, \
luminal peptides inhibited by low atrial pH
what are the actions of gastrin?
increases acid secretion by gastric partial cells, increases pepsinogen and IF secretion,
increases gastric motility,
stimulates parietal cell maturation.
what produces CCK?
cells in upper small intestine
what stimulates CCK?
partially digested enzymes and triglycerides
what are the actions of CCK?
increases secretion of enzyme rich fluid from pancreas,
increases contraction of gallbladder and relaxation of sphincter of Oddi,
also decreases gastric emptying.
what produces secretion?
S cells in upper small intestine
what stimulates secretion?
acidic chyme, fatty acids
what are the actions of secretion?
increases secretion of bicarbonate- rich fluid from pancreas and hepatic duct cells,
decreases gastric secretion, trophic effect on acinar cells.
what produces VIP?
small intestine, pancreas
what stimulates VIP?
neural
what are the actions of VIP?
stimulates secretion by pancreas intestines, inhibits acid secretion.
what produces somastostatin?
D cells in pancreas and stomach
stimulated by fat, bile salts and glucose in the intestinal lumen.
Decrease acid and pepsin secretion, decreases gastrin secretion, decreases pancreatic enzyme secretion, decreases insulin and glucagon secretion.
inhibits trophic effects of gastrin.
stimulates gastric mucous production.
